Trustee Vacancies

Elvaston Castle and Gardens Trust

The Elvaston Castle and Gardens Trust (ECGT) is seeking to recruit up to 5 new Trustees to join us to deliver an exciting and sustainable future for the Elvaston estate. Trustees will be involved in developing the Trust into an effective charity to work collaboratively with Derbyshire County Council (DCC) and other organisations.  Work in the early years will include:

  • Delivering a 5-year business plan for ECGT.
  • Developing a fund-raising strategy and working with DCC to secure funding
  • Working with DCC to deliver a master-plan for the regeneration of Elvaston
  • Identifying, shaping, prioritising and implementing new commercial initiatives and opportunities.
  • Recruiting a Project Officer when funding allows.
  • Supporting and contributing to Heritage Lottery Fund and other funding applications
  • Planning and delivering the proposed transfer of the estate lease and staff from DCC to ECGT.

We are particularly interested in hearing from people with a background in Human Resources, Property Development, Land Management and Legal Services, but this is not an exclusive list and we welcome applications from individuals with a wide-ranging expertise.

ECGT has no employed staff at present so all members of the trustee team must be comfortable delivering outcomes themselves, rather than directing others.

This is an unremunerated position, although reasonable travel expenses will be paid.

To apply, please send a concise, up to date CV and one side of A4 explaining how you would contribute to the future of Elvaston, making reference to the documents available at www.futureelvaston.co.uk.

Please send your application to trustees@elvastoncastle.org. The closing date for applications is 31st December 2018.

For further information and an informal conversation about this opportunity, please contact Dr Peter Robinson, Chairman, at peter.robinson@elvastoncastle.org

Interviews will take place on 24th January 2019. Candidates will be asked to deliver a short presentation related to the covering letter.

Before the interview shortlisted candidates will be offered the opportunity for a tour of the estate on the afternoon of 11th January 2019.

We admire enthusiasm, value diversity, promote equality and challenge discrimination. We encourage and welcome applications from suitably skilled candidates from all backgrounds.
