Crowds of people at the castle

A public consultation to find out what you think of Derbyshire County Council's master plan for Elvaston Castle and Country Park is now live, and can be viewed here

We've been working alongside Derbyshire County Council and the master plan sets out our joint ambitions for the future of the estate.

Since the 1990s the cost of running the estate and maintaining the buildings has become increasingly difficult costing Derbyshire council tax-payers up to £900,000 a year.

In 2013, the County Council entered into a partnership with the National Trust to support them in finding new ways of attracting more visitors, increasing income and protecting Elvaston's heritage in the years to come. A 10 year vision for the estate and gardens was developed under the partnership and in 2016 a new charitable trust, called the Elvaston Castle & Gardens Trust, was created.

A copy of the Elvaston Castle master plan can be viewed in the Documents link from this page.
